About Me

Stefan Holdermans

I am a PhD candidate at the Center for Software Technology of Utrecht University's Department of Information and Computing Sciences. My PhD work is supervised by Jurriaan Hage; Doaitse Swierstra is my promotor.

In the past, I went to grammar school at the Johan de Witt-gymnasium in Dordrecht (1992–1998) and I was a Master's student at Utrecht University (1998–2005). Furthermore, I worked as a junior software developer for Unit 4 Agresso in Sliedrecht (2000–2003) and together with a good friend of mine, Joost Ronkes Agerbeek, I ran a small software company called Mimmick (2002–2004).

I can often be found on the #haskell channel at the Freenode IRC network—where I am known as dblhelix. I am also active on Twitter.

Research

My research, carried out under the auspices of the Institute for Programming Research and Algorithmics, is financed by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research and is part of the project on “Scriptable Compilers”.

The main focus of my research is on type-based program analysis and type-driven program transformation. My interests furthermore include functional programming in general and datatype-generic programming in particular.
